　牛込氏墓
　牛込氏は室町時代中期以来江戸牛込の地に居住した豪族で、宗参寺の開基である。出自については「牛込氏系図」に藤原秀郷の後裔で上州大胡の住人であったとしているが定かではない。しかし「江戸氏牛込氏文書」（東京都指定有形文化財）によると大永6年（1526）にはすでに牛込に定住していたことが確認されている。
　小田原北条氏に属し、はじめ大胡とも牛込とも名乗っていたが天文24年（1555）には北条氏から宮内少輔の官位を与えられるとともに、本名を牛込とすることを認められた。領地として牛込郷・比々谷郷などを有していたが、天正18年（1590）の北条氏滅亡後は徳川家に仕えた。

       Ushigome-shi Haka
 The Ushigome clan was a powerful family who settled in Ushigom,Edo since the middle of Muromachi Period.As per their origin,the Genealogy of the Ushigome Clan states that they were descendents of Fujiwara-no Hedesato and originally settled in Ogo,KOuzuke (in today's Gunma Pref.),which is however uncertain. It is confirmed by Documents on the Ushigome Clan,a Branch of the Edo Clan (tangible culturalassets designated by the Metropolitan Governmnt) that they already settled in 1526 in Ushigome.
 They were under control of the Hojo clan of Odawara,and originally used family name Ogo or Ushigome.The family head was entitled in 1555 to an honorary title unai shoyu and approved at the same time to use their official family name Ushigome.They held their own domains in Ushigome and HIbiya villages,and served for the Tokugawa clan after the destruction of the Hojo clan in 1590.
